Dorian Gray
i know this movie is based on oscar wilde’s novel. i haven’t read the book, but i’m familiar with the story. it’s unique and exactly my cup of tea.
i noticed that many reviewers here are fans of the novel, and i wondered why the ratings are so low. i may not have read the book, but if i judge this as a standalone film, i think it did a great job.
can we at least admit that when a novel is adapted into a film, some changes are inevitable? i understand why people compare the two, but i also think a film should be able to stand on its own.
anyway, ben barnes was perfectly cast for this role. he’s both handsome and absolutely gorgeous.
i couldn’t help but notice that dorian gradually exhibited narcissistic traits. the movie showed how beauty can become a powerful force, making someone feel unstoppable. if i were dorian, i’d probably choose to stay young and beautiful too, while letting the portrait grow old in my place.
i got so excited when dorian kissed basil! i kept waiting for him to kiss more men than women. how do i become as beautiful as dorian? i want to look like him😅
