Another film I took way too long to watch because I was intimidated by the run time, and holy shit the pacing of this is incredible for a 3 hour movie. Yes, this feels like Goodfellas part 2, and I’m sure this is a hot take, but I think it’s better. The characters feel more real, the acting performances are stronger, he’s more creative with the use of narration, and this gives us some of Scorsese’s best shots of all time. The car reflected in the sunglasses, the close up of the coke line through the straw, classic tracking shots. De Niro and Pesci are at their best, Stone gives a devoted performance, and Rickles was an incredible casting choice.
