Magnolia
This is my 4th PTA film, and now I’m convinced him and Tarantino are the best directors out of Hollywood since the 90s.
This is the best PTA film I’ve seen so far, not my favourite though. Magnolia surprised me, I was not expecting this at all. At times, this felt like a Wong Kar-Wai film. The characters all dealt with the feeling of longing. The characters who longed for love were extremely odd people, just like characters from WKW.
PTA loves perverse humour just like his friend Tarantino. Tom Cruise’s character is the epitome of that. PTA really predicted “alpha male influencers with a course in their bio” in 1999. Absolute genius honestly.
