Anora
i mean from the first time that i've heard this film, and i heard that mikey is so amazing in this, i know that im gonna love this film.
anora is a disection of connection that this character thinks she doesn't want but ultimately what she needs. it doesnt show the bad side of a state of living of these characters but shows how both have flaws.
i love anora, this film is so energetic, so funny, so impressive to look at. the story unfolds as what stories should be, and something i think Sean Baker perfected with his style of stories. The humor in this film is so funny, that second act is comedy gold, the chemistry with anora and the goons is funny.
mikey madison deserves the best actress win this year, you can't tell me otherwise. her and butler are for me my favorites and probably the best this year. her performance here might be one of the best performance of this decade. it is layered and nuanced that it feels like a real breathing person. she was able to have so much attention to detail with her performance that it's so loveable and so charismatic.
Anora, Saturday Night, Hit Man. My favorites in that order for this year, so far.
