Heat
"For me the sun rises, and sets with her, man."
The way tension builds in this is so masterful, add that onto with the intense action that truly doesn't let up in this near 3 hour ride and you get a timeless classic. De Niro and Pacino's chemistry is unmatched, it's just so much fun watching the two pitted against each other and the chase that follows.
I loved the way Michael Mann lingers on the relationships in this. In a high stakes robbery heist movie, it can be easy to disregard the relations between these characters but I'm so glad he didn't because that to me is one of my favorite aspects of this whole film. Every conversation feels important and no word feels spoken without meaning, it's a true feat how cohesive and well put together everything turns out to be.
Even surprisingly can be emotional at times, can't say I was expecting some of those beats here, the twists and turns that would happen, the sense of direction is thrown out of the window and honestly for the better.
I have to say for all of the great moments and phenomenal performances all throughout, I don't know if I've seen a funnier moment in any movie than Al Pacino's delivery on the line "cause she's got a great ass" I laugh every time.
