The Crow
A dark romantic tragedy that will forever be a gothic masterpiece.
What immediately stands out about The Crow is the dark atmosphere that's set, it's almost Gotham like but it feels distinct to the time and completely matches the tone of the film. You feel and empathize with Brandon Lee's Crow as they did a great job in flashbacks with showcasing his loss, the brutal trauma he endured and why he's hellbent at coming back and settling his wrongs. In what was truly a life defining performance, Brandon Lee captured the essence of what it meant to be the crow and left a legacy that would be influenced in a lot of media in the future to come.
Stylistically really liked a lot of the choices made such as the badass 90's soundtrack, the cuts and edits felt fast but matched what was going on in the scenes and just a lot of moments that had me shocked and blown away, still though it all felt justified and earned. It was really cool that the literal crow itself was a character, guiding Eric and being his path back from the afterlife, it all added into the whole mythology and made for some great moments.
The Crow had me dialed in the whole time, all more impressive given the fact a lot of what was filmed was worked around Brandon Lee's unfortunate untimely death, I never would've been able to notice, it's done so well.
