Avengers: Infinity War
I like this movie more than Endgame. It is peak filmmaking and thats actually not ridiculous to say that about this specific MCU movie. It is for me because of many reasons. I mean this movie is not only peak mcu, I mean the literal PEAK of it.
Besides that I think it's the highest standard of grandiose scale filmmaking and letting the stakes feel realistic, cgi look realistic. But give every every character the perfect amount of screentime and dialogue thats not off, having the perfect made scenario and REALLY some philosphical themes. I get it, its not in my top ten movies of all time but def top 30.
Thanos was portrayed as a certified menace. What made him so realistic was that he didn't kill those who were unnecessary to kill. He is a hero of his own story. In theory is concept is right, If life is left unchecked, life will cease to exist because of the limited resources, it may need correction. But the price to pay is on some diabolical moral and ethical level that is to be questioned heavily. The purple diva threw his own daughter off a cliff for this price. He really was willing to pay everything. Josh brolin's thanos just may be a top tier peformance of villains OF ALL TIME!!
Like I said, its one thing to have all these talented actors on screen with a big budget. But its another too actually nail this. Because all do respect do Endgame (because of the nailed crowdpleasers and strong emotional themed acts), but It ain't as hard to pull off. I LOVE ENDGAME THO, but objectively the menace and realisation of SHIT AND FUCK, wasn't there as much.
The fact that every sub-dialogue detail was nailed, character did everything in their line and had perfect chemistry with every other character. And doing it with perfect pacing. Because this movie takes place at 5 different setting that all develop on pace and perfectly written. Every major character goes through a good arc throughout this movie. This move set up all new expectations on how CB can be made. I mean it has that lord of the rings perfect setting switches.
Is it Oscar winning worthy? No, is it comic book breakthrough Peak of the bar level worthy, DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS.
I initially wanted to watch the Dune movies back 2 back but because of the dutch national game my head is forced to watch I chose to watch the peak of CB movies instead of peak of Sci-fi.
Yes btw, I do think The Dark Knight is better written. But I do not see it as the posterchild for grandiose scale nailing it. TDK had way less characters but it is stronger in its story. I think it's easier to do with the amount of characters. But TDK didn't need more characters so its perfect in another way.
Visually stunning too btw this movie is. And adding incredible scores to it too.
The loki opening scene is too gut wrenching. ''I assure you brother, the sun will shine on us again'' WRAP IT U-. Loki and Thor better reunite. speaking of Doomsday, they objectively just cannot surpass this level of mind gazing filmmaking just beacuse of the ex Disney CEO fuckin up marvels plan. They miss so much connection now.
With that being said it could be still an incredible movie if they find incredible parralels of scenario. If Doom is as menacing or more than Thanos. Shit is over.
I truly am going to lose my shit on 18 december 2026, because my childhood will come to an end with the X-MEN reuniting. Also the amount of suprises will drive me nuts. Even if it's three suprises idc its gonna be crazy.
I don't like the concept of the Multiverse because you can blame plotholes on ''Variants'' and ''Different universe oops''. But when you do it you can theoretically nail most things. Avatar 3 I will be seated for that first teaser.
To sum it up one last time, Its the magnum opus of CB movies that most unlikely will be surpassed because of its groundedness that is mixed with the sci fi en personal touches. A generational payoff to onlt one decade of movies.....
