Misery

This is such a underrated movie holy shit RIP Rob Reiner I knew that you already had a amazing filmography but this movie might be the most underrated. I love how Reiner just manages to jump from genre to genre like it’s nothing. I mean this movie is a kind of horror but more a thriller. And he just directs these characters in such a entertaining way and especially James’s Caan his character Paul Sheldon felt so real and relatable. Paul Sheldon is a character that will be added to my favs. James Caan already is such an icon but this role is not his most popular but now 100% his most underrated imo. I did not knew this peformance of Kathy Bates was the one that got her the Oscar and when I saw this movie I immediately got why. She is such a uncomfortable creepy menace that portrays the characteristics of obsession so amazingly well. But back to Reiner he just manages to keep this movie thrilling and funny to with Sheriff Buster and his wife. Some good old fun dialogue that isn’t cringe and very funny that just keeps you engaged. I wouldve loved to see this movie in the theatres. Buster was moving like Detective Doakes btw. Paul Sheldon is just so me if I were to be kidnapped with those amazing subtle facial expressions. Being a writer is such fun thing to do during a 6 week holiday I imagine.  Im kinda obsessed with movies that do not get that much recognition and aren’t 10/10 but still pretty good. Its like that one football player that isn’t the best but is so fk entertaining to watch like a magician on the ball. Underrated but not trying to gatekeep bc that shit is weird. Rob Reiner you weren’t not only a great filmaker with movies like Misery, A Few Good Men, Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally and Stand By Me but a amazing human who spoke out against fascism and the current administration.  Idc where on the political isle youre on but on a human level what President Trump said about Reiner is not only too low for a president but for a human too.
