Spotlight
I've found my new favourite genre. Journalism motion pictures. I mean all prsidents men, big short, zodiac, dark waters and now this really does it for me.
It is so interesting to see how there really some sort of special task force in news paper companies to really dive into a piece or story for months to even years, Speaking of ''Spotlight'' it contained a all star cast. Rachel McAdams, Mark Ruffalo who really stole the show for me, Michael Keaton, Billy Crudrup and John slattery.
It is a common fact these days that the church scandals were enormous but back then these numbers and percentages were groundbraking. Everybody knew a thing or two but nobody would expect such numbers.
That's the real question maybe of this story. Why after 30 years of kind of knowing, now acting. Just because the numbers turned out to be bigger. Do we only care about numberd and not victims and scandals.
Crazy fact, the church would pay a victim 20k as settlement. Thats fucking outrageous.
It is truly dissapointing to know that only the times, herald, globe and washington post run these deep analysis because in the netherlands the Telgraph, AD or Volkskrant does not have it.
Movies like these make me want to be a journalist. Like Harvey Specter convinced me to be a lawyer for straight up two months.
Don't forget that this is also part of cinema. We should recognise any sub genre as cinema as long as the quality and narrative is challenging and good.
Next one up is probably the Insider with Al Pacino and Russel Crowe.
O and don't sleep on Mark Ruffalo. He will win an Oscar someday. At least looking at his versatality he already should have won one
