With the current wave of Studio Ghibli IMAX re-releases, I decided to give this one another chance, and I am so glad I did. Watching this in an actual theater helped me absorb the message so much more than I did watching it at home. Growing up is hard. Being all alone is hard. *Feeling *all alone, even when surrounded by people who care about you is even harder.

One of the craziest democracies I've ever seen. Just an hour and a half of Mads Brügger putting himself in mortal danger to bring light to corruption in the CAR.

I found this very unsettling but admit that I was not able to fully grasp *what* these things were at the end of the film. The bouncing perspectives were cool but also made it where I kept getting the oceanographers confused with the boating couple. On list: [2026 Cult Movie Challenge](https://boxd.it/Qm1Dw)

There was significantly more reading in this movie than I expected. Even the bits that weren't reading sort of felt like reading to me. On list: [2026 Cult Movie Challenge](https://boxd.it/Qm1Dw)
