Sharp Objects
really great. put it off for so long because i was worried that knowing the outcome would spoil the whole mystery element of it but it’s still gripping! i’d say honestly the dynamics of family and small town life in conjunction with violence is more the central point than the question of who did it. the identity of the killer props up the real meat of the story, questions about gendered violence and class, as well as expressions of grief and love. those are what kept me watching, as well as (and this is a given) amazing performances all round, of course from amy adams but eliza scanlan completely mesmerised me whenever she was on screen. amma is suchhhh an interesting character and has a fixed point in my mind for the rest of time.
