SLASHERTHON DAY 2

Way better than expected, Bruce Campbell is a god in this house
SLASHERTHON DAY 3

Love the monster. And did not expect to cry over a father losing his son during this but okkkk
SLASHERTHON DAY 4

Equal parts brilliant and up its own ass, some beautiful camera work in here.
SLASHERTHON DAY 4 CONT.

I’ve never seen an ending carry a movie so hard
SLASHERTHON DAY 5

Awesome villain, looks like the elephant man. Trashy 2000s goodness. Marcus just wanted to see some titties man fuck this movie for killing him off, points off for that.

SLASHERTHON DAY 6

FUCKING HUH?!?

This was genuinely enthralling

SLASHERTHON DAY 7

Wish it had more gore and more visible shots of the samurai, but it is so bad it’s hilarious at points.

SLASHERTHON DAY 7 CONT.

Some really memorable images, and an actual unsettling atmosphere. Loved the true crime narration. Not so much the police procedural stuff, they’re all just like “iunno 🤷♂️”. Overall enjoyable though.

SLASHERTHON DAY 8

Cannot get over the fact that the main character is a 13 time convicted sex offender lmao HUH??

SLASHERTHON DAY 8 CONT.

The Texas chainsaw vibes, and the very creepy, interesting killer made this one a very good time.

SLASHERTHON DAY 8 CONT.

Fucking hilarious

SLASHERTHON DAY 8 CONT.

Meh, not bad not great. Decent acting, OK script, good makeup, and not much else.

SLASHERTHON DAY 9

This FELT special. It doesn’t take long into watching to see its vast influence. Classy, creepy, stylish direction and excellently written characters make it apparent why this is a cut above. And that fucking ending… oh lordy

Also do not watch Student Bodies before watching this or the phone calls will make you giggle.

SLASHERTHON DAY 9 CONT.

FUN FUN FUN! This man has Joker level motivations, and i wish that fucking nun got it. This and Black Christmas will now be annual watches 🎅

SLASHERTHON DAY 10

I’ve never been more invested and upset by a character death in a horror film than I was by Slick’s.

Jamie Lee Curtis can step on me.

SLASHERTHON DAY 10 CONT.

A little disappointed in this one. I don’t know what my expectations were, but the concept sounded fun and the opening scene made me think I was watching a David lynch movie for a second. I was excited after that, but the kills left a lot to be desired. I thought this one was gonna go way harder. Also wish it followed the escaped patients more rather than the dipshit psychiatrist. I just kinda wanted the looting/riot scene to be the whole movie.

SLASHERTHON DAY 11

Is this how they danced at strip clubs before twerking existed?

Also forgot what the hell this even was for most of it.

Also certified TERF classic?

SLASHERTHON DAY 12

The claustrophobic creepy potential of a slasher set on a train is squandered here, and Jamie Lee Curtis is so obviously leagues above everyone else in this it’s crazy.

Also certified TERF classic?

SLASHERTHON DAY 13

Fucking hilarious

SLASHERTHON DAY 13 CONT.

This is worth the watch for Tom Savini’s incredible practical effects and the cool killer. Just wish they both had time to shine earlier in the movie.

SLASHERTHON DAY 14

The picture was cropped when I was watching and I thought it was how the movie was, and it wasn’t interesting enough for me to want to rewatch and give it a fair review. Sorry cutthroat alley

SLASHERTHON DAY 14 CONT.

My wife hates that no one died lol

SLASHERTHON DAY 14 CONT.

This movie is sick in the head and it kinda kicks ass for it. The soundtrack rips, the art direction rips, the dream sequences fucking rip, and Randy Quaid is, of course, unbearably disgusting. Some interesting commentary on the 50s nuclear family, and I’m sure plenty of the writer’s personal family trauma sprinkled in the script, make the story involving despite a low on-screen body count. Idk this movie is on a wavelength that I was unsettled and intrigued by.

SLASHERTHON DAY 14 CONT.

Fucking grimy little movie.

SLASHERTHON DAY 15

This and Psycho would make a banger double feature

SLASHERTHON DAY 16

Just classic 🫀🫀🫀

SLASHERTHON DAY 17

This movie has some killer titties.

SLASHERTHON DAY 18

A disturbing character study, with great Savini gore. Just solid.

SLASHERTHON DAY 19

Another solid one. Good atmosphere, good scares, good kills, and Linda Blair is a class act

SLASHERTHON DAY 20

Not my favorite of Argento’s, but his style is unmatched.

SLASHERTHON DAY 20 CONT.

I’m filled with many feelings. I don’t even know what to rate this at the moment

***edit*** yeah, this was fucking great. Had to let it sit for a couple days. But this and Angst are some of the most haunting movies I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen all the gorehound shit and splatsploitation but this is disturbing on a profound psychological level. It’s hard to watch, but saying something important I feel.

SLASHERTHON DAY 20 CONT.

The fucking best! I know it isn’t exactly a traditional slasher but Suspiria is everything, so how could it not fit? A supernatural, surrealist giallo that taught me there are no boundaries when it comes to horror. Experimental, psychological, and endlessly gorgeous to look at even when hyper-violent things are happening onscreen, this film is one of a kind. I rewatch it almost every year because it can almost fit into any theme or subgenre of horror. This thing is an art piece, and a marvel.

SLASHERTHON DAY 21

Very grindhouse. I have a bias toward chainsaws, and the scene with the budget-Bruce Lee was insane.

SLASHERTHON DAY 21 CONT.

I’m shocked at how many of these 80s slashers are just pretty damn good movies.
SLASHERTHON DAY 21 CONT.

Disregard that last thing I said

Awesome gore though

SLASHERTHON DAY 22

What the actual fuck was this? There’s slow white-guy karate, a big ass safety pin as a murder weapon, a completely nonsensical plot. I love it.

SLASHERTHON DAY 22 CONT.

Savini gore is always top notch, but idk why I just did not give af during this movie
SLASHERTHON DAY 24

This was dope. It actually has dynamic characters with decent acting, Princess’s arc is fantastically done. The killer drives a cool ass car, operates like agent 47, and could definitely blow through the ranks of a Slasher tournament if he were put up against other franchise villains (aside from the undead ones)

SLASHERTHON DAY 24 CONT.

A longtime personal favorite. What’s not to love with this thing?! 🫀🫀🫀

SLASHERTHON DAY 25 CONT.

I don’t know if slasherthon has altered my brain chemistry and completely obliterated my ability to properly judge movies, but I loved this. I’m so glad the title isn’t just a pun and actually interpolates the plot of its namesake into the slasher formula. It made for a very fun watch because I love Its a Wonderful Life dearly. The killer is amazingly designed, and although the political commentary is not in any way subtle, I like that this movie has something on its mind, and that something is “eat the rich” which I can always get behind. The movie theater scene is awesome, the plot is fun and inventive, the characters are strong, the comedy is actually funny and not Marvel-humor, the kills are brutal, Justin Long is channeling his inner Trump AND he gets his ass beat like Kurt Russell at the end of Death Proof! This movie has a lot going for it. These Christmas themed slashers have definitely had an excellent hit-to-miss ratio and this was a good lead into TERRIFIER 3 tomorrow!

SLASHERTHON DAY 26

If I wanted to hear heated debates about music and movies, I’d go to a friends house.

Also the most accurate representation of the police in a horror movie I think I’ve ever seen holy shit

SLASHERTHON DAY 26 CONT.

Double feature with Terrifier 3 at the theater!

This movie was a great experience on premiere night back in ‘22. Felt like seeing a midnight showing of some grimy exploitation flick back in the 80s, it was midnight too, and I felt privy to an era of cinema I wasn’t around for.

It’s an inspiring story for independent filmmaking too. Fuck the industry make what you want. The movie itself: it’s an odd one isn’t it? This’ll be my 6th or 7th time watching and that isn’t normal is it? I show all my friends this movie, I love that this movie is just something we all gawk at and marvel and go “wow, that’s fucking awful”. It’s special for that. The plot, that’s an odd one. Is it… good? Uhh, kinda? Sienna is probably a confident pick for one of the best final girls. She has a broken side to her but it isn’t like a damsel or helpless, and it is extremely relatable, you want her to triumph over her trauma and show her true self as a strong warrior. She isn’t just the victim here. You want her to show herself how strong she is! Shes awesome. The rest? Well, their kills are fun. It doesn’t have to be a character drama this is murder porn… but that’s the thing! This movie is 2 and a half hours and there’s dreamscapes that bleed into reality and supernatural set pieces that throw the whole lore of the thing into question. There’s something about it that’s so grande and unique and maximalist, and yet so meager and cheap and down in the mud (blood). This movie is a dialectical anomaly. Because it’s such an exercise in poor taste— outright rejects taste —while still somehow having heart while following Siennas character. The gore: it’s excessive, and Savini’s wet dream I’m sure. This is the main attraction, what you come for. And it’s gotta be some of the best practical gore effects I’ve ever seen in movies. This is a showcase of the possibilities of practical effects. Wince-inducing pain is shown on screen with every makeup and squib trick in the book, and the sounds that accompany the violence are what amplify their effectiveness, the volume on every crunch, slam, and slice is dialed up to fucking 11. And it all happened because of the creativity of a sick fuck like Damien Leone.

Art: The main man himself. An instantly crowned king of the slasher villain canon. And what can I say about him that already hasn’t? He’s terrifying, he’s awful, he’s hilarious, he’s unpredictable, designed and cast perfectly. It isn’t Art without Thornton!

I’ve been sitting on all these thoughts on the movie for 2 years now. It really isn’t that deep. But something about it makes you wanna talk about it ya know? It’s a train wreck and a tour de force. It’s got no class and tons of style. It’s a gross little fucking freak movie, and I love it. Glad I double featured this with the next one…. But I’ll get into that

SLASHERTHON DAY 26 CONT.

I have so many thoughts on this movie, typed so much. But I’m gonna keep it simple for now, this is probably better than terrifier 2. I loved it a FUCKING bunch. Need that extended cut right this moment Damien.

SLASHERTHON DAY 27

Terrifier 3 kinda put slasherthon on hold for a few days as a reset lol.

This one’s classic as hell. Love a little freaky weirdo with a drill.

SLASHERTHON DAY 28

I just love this movie’s whole vibe 🫀🫀🫀
SLASHERTHON DAY 29

Leather face is so Brat
SLASHERTHON DAY 30

Much better after watching in context of a slasher marathon, it stands out that way. Interesting to watch post-parenthood too. The sequels are still much better to me.
SLASHERTHON DAY 31

Prime time bitch 🤷♂️

SLASHERTHON DAY 31 CONT.

much better than I thought it was going to be

SLASHERTHON DAY 32

My wife is such a glutton for this kind of trash but it isn’t my kind of trash
SLASHERTHON DAY 32 CONT.

Been wanting to watch this one for a long time and it did not disappoint. Hail Sheetar

SLASHERTHON DAY 35

I frequently double feature this with Jack Frost (the cool one). I have the taste of a peasant.

SLASHERTHON DAY 35 CONT.

I needed to hear some of the “fuck you” attitude about filmmaking that this movie has, I hope I can have as much fun making my movies as they probably did during this.

Didn’t make it make a damn bit of sense tho lol

SLASHERTHON DAY 35 CONT.

I don’t even fucking know

SLASHERTHON DAY 35 CONT.

I love watching horror movies that are supposed to be in 3D, in 2D (seriously not sarcasm)

SLASHERTHON DAY 36

This is an art house film disguised as a low budget horror.

SLASHERTHON DAY 37

The opening scene is so good why isn’t the rest of the movie shot like that

SLASHERTHON DAY 37 CONT.

Its kafkaesque.

SLASHERTHON DAY 38 🎃

Never realized how much this shit feels like a really bad lsd trip. The pace and the way everyone acts is so psychedelic. I cannot understate this movies importance to me; absolutely one of the greatest things ever created.
