now that’s how you do comedy! it’s unfortunate how something like this would most likely be *too *progressive by today’s standards. great performances, great physical and visual comedy, great story, literally what more could you ask for. i know it came before, but it felt like an extended episode of modern family. the comedy being so witty and heavily based on misunderstandings was just such a familiar feeling. hardest I’ve laughed in a minute, for sure.

had I seen this in theaters I think this would have worked better for me, so it’s my own fault. it’s cute, it’s fun, it’s sweet, it’s not predictable. put molly gordon in more things. that’s about all I gotta say, sorry!

arguably the funniest installment (haven’t seen best and last yet)

i love when filmmakers aren’t afraid to get weird w it, which is ironic because the “weird” elements of this futuristic world are probably the weakest part of the film for me. the story is where all the heart can be found, and there’s a LOT of it. haley joel osment, man. i usually don’t feel as invested with child protagonists, but he manages to carry this entire film on his back (and with ease). visually breathtaking, tragic, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and a dynamite performance. spielberg doesn’t miss!!! probably my least favorite from him, as of lately, but like still, he does not miss.
