Midnight Mass
Began my rewatch.
Episode 1.
I think Midnight Mass already, is one of the best mini series I've ever seen, and this is my first time going back since its initial inception. The entire time i was just excited about what's to come through this show. The way it establishes its town and characters is damn near flawless. It welcomes you onto the island like you're a native of it, and you immediately feel the dread of the towns hardships and lack of modern society norms. The horror is incredible subtle, but certainly impactful, warranted, and interesting.
Episode 2.
You're growing with this cast now, there is some experimental framework in this episode which i find truly riveting. I love the long monologues, and the performances are top notch. I think the only actor in this show that is subpar is Elliot from ET, but he's incredibly restrained in this so I'm happy with that. The "less you see" trope is utilized splendidly here creating one of the better horror scenes of the 2020s with Bowl going into the house after hearing his own voice calling back to him. Sure, idiotic decision making on the part of the character, but he was an ass earlier in the episode so I feel very little remorse.
The terror is cranked just slightly, and everything feels like its approaching the edge. Just incredible framework, pacing, and acting in this episode.
