La La Land
Rom-com my ass, this is a horror movie 😃On a real note, this is an amazing film! The fact the director wrote Whiplash (another favorite of mine) just so he can make this film is insane. .The cinematography was great, the scenes where we zone in on characters was great. It felt as if we were in the same room as them. The dance in the Observatory was beautiful, seeing the shadows dance among the stars was something else. The color was also fantastic, each color really met something than just “it looked nice.” .Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were on point, they never led a boring scene imo. You felt constantly drawn with this character, wanting them to succeed together. Their chemistry felt real, as if someone’s real life story was written onto that very script. .Those last 10 minutes had me on the edge. SPOILERS AHEAD: the cut to 5 years with Mia was so abrupt that it worked. It had me questioning everything, was all of this in her head or something? Then we got Seb’s pov and i genuinely thought that it could have been a nightmare. Of course it didn’t end up that way, and that last stare spoke a thousand words. Nothing frightens me more than not being with the one you’re destined to be. Not saying that Mia’s husband wasn’t the one for her, but clearly the director hints that maybe it could’ve been better. Unfortunately we will never know. 5/5
