Parasite
Good news for all my loyal Letterboxd followers: I won’t be dropping a full essay on why I love Parasite today! That’ll come later this week when I rewatch it ..Alright not to sound like a pretentious asshole but this film 100% had an affect me. I loved the way Bong Joon-ho crafts a story that dives into the structure of the rich and the poor, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat, or whatever you wanna call it. It’s not just in a financial display but a display in the social interactions between the two. .Again, not trying to sound like an asshole but there’s such a cool directing style in this film that I can understand why most film majors I know consider this a classic. There’s a physical separation not just within the actors but within the house of the Park family. .Bong Joon-ho delivers false hope as we assume that the Kim’s will finally make it out of the sub-basement. But it never happens, no matter how many of them work for them. .Tho my favorite part has to be that there isn’t a physical antagonist. While some can say the Parks, they don’t create the struggles of the Kim’s. The antagonist is the unstable control of capitalism and its affect on our lives. A message that can resonate to any living in a western democracy. .Anyway, Absolute cinema! Full review coming soon 5/5
