Station Eleven
I may have just witnessed the single greatest piece of story-telling ever…?
I am kind of in shock tbh. This one will be sitting with me for a LONG time. A unique spin on the post-apocalyptic genre that zeroes in on our humanity in a way that none others do. The writing, the direction, the music. It’s all so moving. The power of stories within stories. Art imitating life, and vis versa. Art as catharsis. The art of letting go. I could go on and on and on.
The performances here are all STELLAR. Matilda Lawler and Himesh Patel are the standouts to me… Jeevan and young Kirsten had me glued to the screen. Danielle Deadwyler deserves her flowers for that brooding performance. There is so much to unpack. I definitely see myself rewatching this every year!
The way that a show about a flu pandemic having to halt production mid-filming because of a real flu pandemic must have been crazy for the cast lol
