Before Sunrise
When Richard Linklater directed your love life…
Richard Linklater’s film is about a spark of human connection. Two young souls immediately clicked by fate and was connected through philosophy and their perception of love and life. An emotional journey that both characters explore in a short amount of time, and overtime began to experience a mutual connection. This film has become one of my favorite romantic films of all time.
Funny thing while watching it, me and my boyfriend almost had the same experience as the two characters and we never saw this film until we watched it today. In this film, I’m more like Jesse and he’s like Céline, and our summer in Vienna was the winter streets of Toronto. We even met at the exact same date (Dec 16), 6 months from now in the film. And we are also in our early 20s, like the characters. Only thing that is different we stayed together for three days, and we've already known each other for a while, but this was our first time meeting in person.
We would go around the city and talked about our personal lives, dreams and our beliefs. Visiting the museum and going to the music store hits close to home. Then on our last day, we stopped at the same place, was where we first both met, we cried and have to say our goodbyes and parted ways. We promised to meet again in 6 months.
Might watch the 2nd film after 6 months.
