Less vibrant than Renoir's best films but that's probably befitting of the material. Didn't realise this was based on the same book as Scarlet Street until about halfway through - bet that's a fun holiday read! Such an acrid story with such a dim view of people: probably fair enough tbh *"Good for her, I wouldn't mind being dead myself" *
