Obsession
I've never been one for horror but let me start by saying, what the actual fuck. I had the pleasure of seeing this in theaters which isn't a common occurrence for me, but it was so worth it, and I have lots to say about this movie.
I'll get this out of the way first because it comes as no shock to anyone, but Inde Navarrette was truly insane, like actually mind blowing. I am whole heartedly convinced that half the reason this movie terrified me is thanks to her performance and it truly is oscar worthy.
Next, the plot was actually fantastic, because my main thought going in was, "How are they going to make this actually interesting and scary", and they did not disappoint. I think there is something to be said about the sharp contrast of laughing at Nicky one minute and then visibly and verbally gagging the next. Again, this is thanks to Inde's spectacular performance, but also the sheer amount of theatrics written in.
I think i'll end by noting the absolute stellar job Curry Barker did directing this film. Let me tell you that I was astounded by how much we got for just a $1,000,000 budget, like how insane. But also the little details and shots that you could tell were crafted so well. With one of my favorite scenes being when Ian wishes for a billion dollars and money immediately starts pouring down from the ceiling as we see every horrified emotion come across Bear's face.
Actually you know what, I have more to say, especially about the ending. So let me tell you this might be one of my favorite endings to a movie ever because it left you with just the right amount of questions and the right amount of certainty. We are left thinking, well what is she going to do now, like what a shitty situation. But we also know that 3 of her friends are dead and we are left to determine, who is good, who is bad, and who is to blame.
Ok, thats all, I highly recommend if you couldn't tell. Don't forget to smile!
