STRAW
It is easy to overlook somebody else's problems because we are so caught up in our own, it's not conscious selfishness but instead an unrecognisable reality that people hide and face in silence, out of fear or embarrassment. This film is a true advocate for looking out for others, even strangers and doing the moral thing. Breaking points don't spawn from single moments, they grow from something small and manifest into something that can spiral out of control. Perrys film sheds light on the untold struggles, the quiet ones, the ones too afraid to speak out and say they are struggling and to illustrate the resilience of a woman deteriorating into chaos. This film portrays these emotions beautifully in an emotional gut punch of a story which does not shy away from shedding a harsh light on problems and lives that are often overlooked.
