Nope

Holy shit this movie is just fantastic. Jordan Peele is only three movies in and is already one of my favorite directors ever. There is so many new things that I notice every time I watch it. I don't have anything else to say other than it's perfect. I took little notes throughout and I'm just going to drop them in here because I know there's a lot of hidden themes and motifs throughout. 5 Major themes: Eye contact -Yellow table cloth at the top in opening scene blocking eye contact so gordy doesn’t attack -“Keep our heads up out the clouds for this one” (dad was looking up when he died) -“Don’t look him in the eyes” (Horse) -OJ avoids eye contact throughout the movie -The horse reacts when it sees its reflection (looking into its eyes) -Song I wear my sunglasses at night Spectacle/bad miracle -Unexplainable death of father -The shoe in gordy incident -The bug on the camera -“It was a spectacle” (The attack) -“Me and my family bore witness to a spectacle (The animal) Animals are wild at the end of the day -He takes the blame for the horse issue -“I guess some animals aren’t fit to be trained -Gordy only kills because of a random noise -“Trained animals can be unpredictable” Foreshadowing -Subtle screaming before everything starts falling (the things that fell are from pockets) -She does “Motorcycles baby!” -Says one to few greats in her speech (She was just copying her dads) -One of the chimps hit his limit attack was 6 minutes 13 seconds: Gordy dies trying to do an exploding fist bump and his head explodes -The animal comes every day at 6:13 pm Humor + tragedy + exploitation -Humor as defense mechanism: Turning tragedy into comedy (SNL) -The way he describes the tragedy is more awelike than anything else -We hear screams, as it passes over the house the power goes out. -They want to use the animal for profit -They use the Gordy tragedy for profit -The dream she's chasing where she ends up at the top of the mountain is the one he never wakes up from -Jupe tells himself he was chosen before his speech -Emerald captures the perfect photo of the creature using the novelty camera in the well but ultimately chooses not to grab it, choosing not to become part of the exploitative system -TMZ is trying to exploit tragedy of jupe -“We don’t deserve the impossible” Notes: -The opening scene is from inside the animals stomach -Anytime the animal is on screen the sound of it flying is people screaming -The rain was everywhere but the house because the animal was directly over it (same w car) -In the orchestra “the planets” Gustav holts never wanted to end on Jupiter because it was false triumph -The animal came early because the fake horse was stuck in its throat once it cleared the animal threw everything non-human up in blood dump -The score during the run is similar to Jupiter from the planets -Nope is an acronym for “not of planet earth” -The creature's square-shaped maw/eye is intentionally designed to resemble a camera lens, reinforcing the theme of obsession with capturing spectacle -The animal in full form looks very similar to a biblical angel I LOVE THIS MOVIE and RELEASE THE DIRECTORS CUT PLEASE!
