Parasite
This film is absolutely the masterpeice everyone claims it to be. It is an instant classic and already one of my favorite films of all time. The plot is so incredibly engaging throughout and the second half really picks up the intensity. I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the last hour.
This movie is so beautiful and complex. The way that Bong Joon Ho makes every single character so lovable yet flawed is so real and true to human nature. I can not believe it has taken me this long to watch it but I am so glad I finally did.
My favorite little moment that I caught was Park saying that Moon-gwang always ate enough food for two. It was such a throwaway statement that really pays off knowing what happens later in the film. I love this film. The stark contrast in color between the two houses is very telling of their class distinction. The contrast of the storm between the two families shows their perspective on life. The Park family views it as an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade while the Kim family's house was just devastated by the same storm.
The performances are genuinely perfect. I always worry when watching movies in subtitles that the emotions or cultural differences won't get through to me but this movie had no such struggles. Every single actor gives it their all and it definitely shows.
A truly perfect movie.
