Funny Games

"You shouldn't have done that, Anna. You broke the rules. Sorry, you blew it." 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷 So sad that Funny Games is still the only movie(s) I know of that features any Naked City needledrops. Every movie should have at least one! I still think that Seventh Continent is Haneke's Magnum Opus, but it's hard to deny the craft and clarity of this one. Definitely a major work not only in his career, but in film history. More formalist essay than genre film, it deftly weaves media theory and critique into a postmodern work that still functions as a narrative piece.
