Cure
Man 100 hands down to the cinematography of this film. Everything was so damn well executed and portrayed that I was hooked as hell.
I was terrified, it was so good. The dialogues -- although I didn't understand Japanese so I had to read subtitles, they were totally earned.
Now the themes, it was how obsession can lead to become a burden, certainly for me, the loneliness of modern age. How bureaucracy has emptied the hearts of people and spiltted them into two halfs, out of which neither of them is real. How then most of people just accept then fate and their splitted lives and do nothing, buried dreams and ambitions summing up to become frustration and loneliness. And this theme digs deeper into the society because everyone is now just pretending and living quietly blaming the society and the then circumstances that lead them to live a life they never wanted. Because at the end of the day it's really not about what job you do or what degree you earned. It's about who are you underneath all of it, beneath all the noise of the world, the person who sits quietly, is that person within you really happy doing what he does or does it just because of the fear of society or a fear of oneself? This film wants us to sit and think about who we really are, what is our identity and it did that job with absolute perfection.
Now talking about some loose ends, the film had an idea and they had a solid build up around it, do good that it was impossible to take your eyes off the screen but in the second half, instead of building and moving forward with the idea it looked like they were going around in a circle, over again, oversimplification was what I noticed. Except that, it's of the best and most horrifying films I've ever seen.
