I maintain that it would’ve made more sense if she had been fat and kinda gross like in the book but shit this movie is really good. Completely insane but really good. Movies don’t look like this anymore. I like to think I could have helped her if I was there but with her mom in the picture she might have been doomed from the start. I think the reviews saying that it should’ve been directed by a woman are annoying. This is a very intimate portrayal of a girl’s despair and violence and it doesn’t really matter that a guy made it. The nudity in the opening scene is silly but there being naked boobs in a movie does not automatically make the whole thing “male gaze”. Im sexist now. Women be shopping
