THIS ABSOLUTELY SHATTERED ME...... This story was so gut wrenching to watch but was so beautifully told. Honestly one of the most emotional films I've ever seen. This movie to me was so close and personal for reasons I can't even fully explain, the regrets I have had in life, the pain, the trauma, the good times, I saw them all flash again in my mind when watching this movie. At times I found myself relating to Sophie and at times Callum from when I was a kid and now that Im all grown. Not to mention the main theme of depression, emptiness, and suicide, I really felt Callum's pain and could relate to him, it was portrayed really well.
The very unique cinematography not just the camera recording ones, but all other scenes too, in this movie is unlike I have ever seen, it's so refreshing and new but at the same time lands really well in showing real, authentic, close and intimate moments between Callum and Sophie. You could easily pick any scene from this movie and that itself would be oscar worthy, the starting scene, then when they come back to it through the reflection of the tv was my favorite, the scene where Callum is taking off his cast the frame of Sophie in warm yellow light all happy, and Callum just looking defeated and sad in the cold blue light of the toilet, sort of being a metaphor/reflection of how they're feeling, then the flashing lights last dance scene I was bawling my eyes out man, each and everything was done to perfection in my opinion.
Frankie Corio's acting was out of this world, like she's the most kid like kid I've seen in movies, hats off to her. And obviously Paul Mescal was amazing as always. I know I've already yapped too much but I feel like this is a movie that will remain with me for a lifetime. 10/10
