Chungking Express

To preface, I genuinely cannot put to words how beautiful this movie looks. Every single shot is so colorful, and so emotional, and most importantly, seriously high quality. The characters, despite the fact that at times they feel near caricature like, are really relatable and great canvases for the story. The acting is a weird mixture of similarly super over the top feeling, but also very tender and very humane. The story is sprawling, though also very simple, and really takes you through every emotion a movie should take you through. Great depiction of the full palate of emotions associated with love, and it really understands how to use those emotions to carry along the narrative. The score is beautiful. Super interesting uses of repetition, though I never felt the movie was repetitive. Amazing if I do say so myself.
