Seven Samurai
Watching a movie like this and trying to move on is something I don't think I can do. The existence of this movie already confuses me and the more I read about it the more confused I get.
Seven Samurai was everything that I didn't expect it to be going in, and I'm so glad it was. It was funnier than I expected, it was more romantic than I expected, it was sadder than I expected, and it was way easier to get through than I expected. It is everything an epic should strive to be. Plot aside, which is hard to do since the plot is so good, the movie is one of the most stunning pieces of visual art I have ever seen. Every single shot is controlled, has a narrative, and looks beautiful. The acting is stupendous, with every actor balancing each other out in their near-absurd potency. The blocking is some of the best I have seen out of any film. The main point of interest for me in this movie is just how good the editing really is. I have struggled to get through movies that are less than half the length of this movie more than I did to get through Seven Samurai. It is really some of the most impressive pacing ever. There is still so much that I could talk about but I think that others have put it to word better than I could. It is Seven Samurai. If you have not seen it you should just watch it. If you have seen it you should watch it again.
Really proud of humanity for having this movie exist.
