The Queen's Gambit

I missed out on this last year when the hype was at its peak (for some reason I tried watching the first episode three different times and didn’t get past the halfway point), but after its victory at the Emmy’s this past week I decided to finally sit down and watch this and whadaya know?? It’s not half bad! Anya Taylor-Joy really is a marvel here, delivering the kind of magnetic screen presence rarely seen in a talent her age (special shout-out to her big eyes and fabulous outfits). She’s the kind of good that you don’t even realize just how fantastic she is until about the 3rd or 4th episode where it hits you like a ton of bricks. Truly can’t wait to see where she goes from here.
