Yi Yi
You can’t see what I see and I can’t see what you see. So, how can I know what you see?
i’m torn between thinking that nothing i write here will have any value and thinking that anything i write here is as valuable as anything else anyone else has to say ever. i’ll certainly also read this back later and feel embarrassed, siding with the former thought but that’s okay.
i was saving this movie in my watchlist for ages and knew it was going to hit me hard. i am permanently desperate for the human experience and the way edward yang so delicately and earnestly showcased so many aspects of that ripped me open and sewed me back together again over and over again in this 3 hour runtime. i am a sock puppet of a person!
being human is hard and easy and shocking and predictable and amazing and unique and taken advantage of for every single one of us. there’s no way else to go through it all other than that. the cycles of knowing it all and not knowing anything at all feel endless and i used to be so scared of that, but it is really beautiful.
through watching this insane ensemble of lives play out, i felt overwhelmingly grateful for just being. there’s so much comfort here. for me, it’s about knowing that we are all surrounded by people who are also just being.
feeling fragile because i am and feeling strong because i’m letting it all continue.
It’ll be so much fun
