Get Out
Jordan Peele + Daniel Kaluuya is a perfect combination. Fifteen million merits is one of my favourite black mirror episodes and I’ve followed Key and Peele’s iconic youtube skits for as long as I can remember. Going from youtube to being the first American African director to earn €100 million dollars in a debut film is incredible. Get out is a compelling thriller which uses horror tropes to focus on the experiences of direct and indirect discrimination in American from the perspective of our protagonist Chris who is meeting his white girlfriends family for the first time. Peele demonstrates himself as a master of suspense and black comedy in a film that never fails to keep you on your toes.
