Heat
Michael Mann meticulously crafted every single scene in this movie to its highest degree. The action is dragged out through insane beats of tension, layered with an amazing score that never overpowers the movie — instead, it carries the movie along beautifully. Each and every scene is like peering into a painting. Every shot is like peering into someone else's business, as if i'm the cop. Mann's attention to detail is something I don't fully understand, and yet I can already praise it. The characters all have depth, emotion, and carry a weight with them that makes you feel for their families, and for them. Al Pacino was phenomenal, every scene he was in I felt his emotion bleeding through the screen. De Niro, amazing. His ability to play a lonely man should be studied. Val Kilmer (RIP) also did his thing, the final scene with his wife was beautiful. There's so many things that I want to write that have probably already been said. From the cinematography, the attention to detail, the dynamics, the action, etc. It's all amazing. I need a few more rewatches before I can truly give a definitive opinion about this movie, and truly appreciate it.
