Zodiac
I saw Zodiac in theaters back in 2007 but I haven’t seen it since. This past week post-election was very stressful and since white women got us into this mess I decided to relax the way they do by watching something with serial killers. Weirdly, it really did help. Zodiac reminded me that we live in an unjust world and sometimes bad people win. The Zodiac Killer, Billy Cosby, Trump, etc. sometimes they just get away with it.
Also, re-watching Zodiac made me retroactively appreciate RDJs performance in Oppenheimer more. In Zodiac, in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and in the Marvel movies, Robert Downey Jr has a very specific schtick that works extremely well. The looseness, the sarcasm, the too cool for school attitude, you know what I mean. It’s always there. In Oppenheimer, he sheds every single affectation and utterly disappears into Lewis Strauss. It’s astounding. Zodiac made me appreciate that.
