It's incredibly odd that Butterfly by Smile.dk appears in two consecutive films I've watched and possibly even weirder that they're both Chinese films. This one also features Toy-Box, which I guess means that China just got absolutely one-shotted by Eurodance in the early 2000s.

This was my first Bi Gan and now I'm going to put off watching his other work forever out of fear that it won't live up to this.

An engaging, potentially great story hampered by some of the worst millennial epic bacon "erm, so THAT just happened" dialogue ever in a movie.

"Midnight baths! The decline of Rome!" might be the greatest exasperated neighbor quote of all time.
