Accidental Lost Bus / Arco double feature of movies with both wildfires and America Ferrera. My favorite thing here was the rich world building that was almost entirely show, not tell. It was beautiful and well imagined sci-fi that just chugged along in the background. I think my favorite little detail was the nanny bot having both parents’ voices. I also loved those huge emotional impact points around the end. It struck a fine balance with staying light hearted and being deeply sad, similarly optimistic and realistic about the future. I do think it’s held back a bit by being a kids movie. The main plot is totally avoidable, kids screwing things up for everyone. Realistically, I’m overrating it because I was enthralled by the world and the plot was just an excuse to see more. Andy Samberg’s character was so specifically Samberg that I wonder how much he was able to change in the dub.
