Apocalypse Now
This is my first time watching Apocalypse Now and I can comfortably say that this is my all time favourite war movie.
The direction from Francis Fort Coppola might be the best I have ever seen. I can't believe this came out in 1979. It's poignant beauty truly ravels through the screen, as every single scene is crafted with so much passion that I was astonished the entire time by it. The story is so powerful because the characters are amazing and the plot is insanley good.
I love how it managed to be an anti war movie with showing the horrors of the Vietnam war and how many people lost their lives, while also having a brilliant and insane plotline about the crazy colonel and his cult. It turned out to be way different than expected. The remastered version looks and sounds incredible and the runtime of 150 minutes felt so much shorter. As a note, I watched the theatrical cut for my first watch, but I'll continue watching the other ones for my rewatches.
Overall, Apocalypse Now is a truly magnificent movie and incredible milestone for cinema in general. It turned out to be one of my favourites for a reason.
