Cure
One of the most mind blowing, interesting, complex and smartest films of all time. Not just my favourite japanese film but also one of my all time favorites.
The performances are perfect and genuinely could'nt have been any better. The cinematography is eerie and mysterious, fitting to the movie in general. It has such an undescribable atmosphere that it is scarier and more unsettling than most horror movies I know. The entire movie gives off something very special. It is a slow burn and technically not too much happened, but at the same time I feel like there was so much happening that I can't take everything in on just one watch. The pacing was incredible. I felt hypnotized watching this work of art that I could have watched another 3 hours of this.
The story is one of the best I've ever seen. Everythings structured but at the same time left open. It's for us to think, yet we know theres one right theory we have to figure out. A reason this movie can be rewatched many, many times and I can't wait for my first one. I have numerous theories, and I love to think about it more and more. The characters are astonishing and everything seems so perfect here.
Overall, I can't praise this movie enough, as this felt like literal perfection. It has completely stuck with me, and I'll surely remember and rewatch Cure. 5 stars, a number I rarely hand out to a film. This one deserves it.
