Incendies
Honey, I shrunk the Watchlist! (2026)
26/35 ~ Watch the movie that you have been anticipating watching most
Incendies is one of the few Denis Villeneuve films. I hadn't seen it and had heard phenomenal things about this, so my anticipation got greater and greater, and so did my expectations. And wow, this did hold up to those.
I feel like it is almost impossible to say things that haven't been said about this masterpiece yet. The direction is astonishing, and it proves that Villeneuve absolutely deserved to make it to Hollywood and bless us with even more art with higher budgets. The soundtrack is surprisingly amazing too, as Radiohead brings every soundtrack to perfection; that's a fact. The narrative is one of the best things I have ever seen. It is a commentary on such important things that couldn't have possibly been done better. It knows what to show and what not to show, and that makes it cruel but keeps it from feeling like it wants to go for shock factor or anything. The performances are beyond good, and it's genuinely crazy that humans are capable of such acting. The cinematography was awesome, and I really liked the editing too.
Overall, it feels kind of complicated to actually express the things I feel about Incendies. It is a timeless masterpiece in every way and one of my favorite films of the century. Everyone should see this, and I would consider Incendies to be Denis Villeneuve's true masterpiece.
