Perfect Days
"the world is made up of many worlds. Some are connected and some are not."
Perfect Days is a thought-provoking masterpiece that was even better than expected. Something I experienced a lot from Wim Wenders, one of my favorite directors of all time.
There are so many things I love in this movie that are hard to put in a singular review. It's the most authentic, peaceful, and calming movie I have ever seen, while also provoking many thoughts and conversations. It knows what it wants to be, without the pressure to succeed or compete with other movies. It is truly perfect, absolutely flawless.
The acting is astonishing. As easy as the role might seem, I think it might be one of the hardest ever. He portrayed this man perfectly. A man that cut himself from society and now lives his own peaceful and happy life. He lives in his own world, while many others live in theirs. When new characters were added, the movie got more and more depth, as we also got to know more about our protagonist.
The soundtrack makes up an important part of the movie and is phenomenal. Every day after work he plays a cassette, each with a song that somewhat portrays his day. The dream sequences were very original and something I haven't quite seen so far. I love the innovative ideas in here and how they get executed. The portrayal of Tokyo is beautiful and calming. Every day he has his routine and visits the same spots. At some point, this even felt like my own home.
What this movie made with me was truly beautiful. It's an experience I won't ever forget and would love to experience another time. It's one of my favorite movies and a must-see. Whether you're a Wim Wenders fan or not.
