Stand by Me
The last time I watched this I was about 6 years old so it was almost like watching it for the first time again, yet it still felt so familiar and nostalgic. I absolutely adore this movie and it's just one of those movies that are perfect. You dont even have to explain it that much, you just know it.
The acting was astonishing from everyone and also even more tragic to think that River Phoenix died at auch a young age, he was so talented. The entire style, vibe and tone of the movie make me feel good, I can't really describe it, it just feels special. The characters have an incredible amount of depth to them, they all are different to each other and all feel authentically written. The story might seem pretty basic but it is so much more. It is about friendship, death and about finding your own path. So many different topics, hidden in many awesome dialogues. There are so many rememberable quotes. Thats also one of the reasons why I love Stephen King, he's able to write about anything, with all kinds of genres. The soundtrack was pure perfection and had always the fitting harmony. All the build up lead us to the dramatic and really intense finale where everything came together.
The title Stand By Me came up when Kiefer Sutherland teached River Pheonix the song "Stand By Me" (which is also used in the end credits) on the guitar and I need to say that this is the perfect title for this movie.
Overall, Stand By Me is without a question, one of my favourite movies of all time and I am already seeing myself rewatching this masterpiece, again and again.
