Himizu

This was a beautiful film. I still need time to wrap my head around it but it was just brilliant from the acting to the filmmaking. The character of Sumida is one which I resonated with a lot throughout this movie and he really reminded me of my earlier years in life when all seemed hopeless.  The actors pull fantastic performances as I couldn’t help but be encapsulated by their real yet exaggerated performances. This movie has a very grim tone that sheds light on not only the hopelessness which life can present you but also the worst humanity can offer. However the phrase “Sumida, Don’t Give Up” is a hopeful message to anyone who is in a position like this character is where you feel as if life is being unfair to you. You never give up despite everything.  10/10.
