Nope
With this movie Jordan Peele proves that in the world of horror, big budgets don’t mean you have to sacrifice the quality of your concepts.
This film is an absolutely thrilling and fun yet madly uncomfortable ride, in which every performance is incredible. The commentary on capitalism, especially in regards to Hollywood and the entertainment industry where exploitation is commonplace and viewers care only about being amused and not who or what the production of their entertainment hurts in the process, came through incredibly clear to me. However it didn’t feel heavy handed or ham fisted. Just clear. I also will always be super overjoyed by the fact that Jordan Peele insists on mainly casting black people as the leads of his horror movies without relying on black trauma and racism to create the narrative. The only exception being Get Out, but Get Out was showing a very under-represented and not talked about enough aspect of racism. So even then he was breaking molds.
Overall this movie is much better than Us, and is easily a contender for movie of the year along with EEAAO.
