Sinners
I got to check this out in theaters yesterday, OH….MY….GOD. If Superman (2025) wasn't coming out this year, 'Sinners' would totally be my favorite for movie of the year. This might just be my new fave from 'Ryan Coogler'! This movie was seriously awesome. The vampires were super creepy and unsettling, especially with their glowing red eyes and the way they knew so much about everything. After reading that ScreenRant article You could totally tell how ‘Ryan Coogler’ was inspired by the character ‘Death’ in ‘Puss in Boots’ with how his vampires looked and acted. He really captured that same scary vibe.
This movie is filled with incredible scenes and visuals, but my favorite moment was when Sammie plays the blues in a way that blends all historical genres and cultural eras into one song that was really really cool. I’m not exaggerating at all that was one of the most impressive things I've witnessed on the big screen in quite a while. My jaw was on the floor the whole entire time. In a way, that scene and the other musical scenes reminded me a lot like the movie ‘Babylon’, and ‘La La Land’ which is probably why I enjoyed this so much. Honestly, all the musical performances in this movie were outstanding, and the cinematography was excellent too.
Don’t get me wrong; I think everyone in this movie delivered a great performance, but the standout for me was definitely Miles Canton. If I’m not mistaken, I heard this was his first movie, if so, that’s a pretty impressive debut! That dude was phenomenal. Overall, I’m still absolutely blown away by this movie. This movie was truly AMAZING! I can’t wait to see it again sometime this week.
