Anne Hathaway is so talented, but she did the best she could with those shallow dialogues (recurrent in the whole film). The cinematography was captivating, as one would expect from Christopher Nolan, but in the end, the film as a whole left me quite unmoved.

> *The waterfront of New York – the end of many journeys, the beginning of many adventures. * I really admire Josef von Sternberg’s ability to tell a simple story with such cinematic genius, poetry, sensitivity and tenderness. This film was devastating at times, and I was deeply moved by it :’( (also, women shooting their husband to save the girl he’s assaulting who they also previously kissed gotta be one of my favourite movie genres <3)
