Conclave
As this movie was starting I was looking at all the priests in the beginning counting the nuns on one hand preparing myself for a movie totally diminishing/excluding women and any female roles whatsoever (cause we’re talking about the church here.. historically there’s no place for women in positions of importance) and was i INCREDIBLY WRONGGGGG WITH THAT TURN OF EVENTS AND THAT ENDING WOW funny as fuck in retrospect
But this movie was soooo fucking crazy - the dialogues, the monologues, everything was so important. Lots of people are hating on the ending cause of how “political” it was (though i agree that it felt anticlimactic just so that a point can be made) but imo that perfectly tied into quite literally every theme in the film. Also his speech in the end had me in awe i ADORED his character
And side note I loved that this was about the pope and the church and all these seemingly incredibly distant events to a regular person’s life but somehow you can find something to connect with at any point.. Even I went into this thinking I won’t enjoy it cause I’m not into these kinds of things but wow did it prove me wrong… beautifully made
