i like rewatching things w my friends

i initially had a lot of elaborate theories as to where the movie was going and i was (pleasantly) suprised to see it really was just on the nose, leaning into this suspenseful exhibition of obedience and righteousness i was vv much curious about it, it felt like chris had b.f skinner’d into the sun

there was smth about this movie that had me incredibly drawn to it! the eeriness and suspense and littered confusion was so perfectly done in my opinion, it has you making thinkpieces in your head. i really do think jesse plemons is a great actor because im yet to see him in something that doesn’t make me wanna throw him under a car. and jesie buckley !! her acting is sooo amazing, you’re rooting for this character, a figment, a concept and you’re crushed at this realisation that you were never really in her shoes the entire film and thats what makes this movie so good. i was confused and it nearly felt psychosis inducing to experience the lapses of flitting changes and distorting but it was done so really well, the scenic shots, the heavy theme of ageing, it was really engaging. i think once it sunk in, what i had just watched for the last 2 hours and 10 or so minutes, i felt very strange, almost out-of-body like i’d say. to follow this man’s venture to imagination, forging his story, his love interest, his re-imagining of his adulthood, to be pulled out of a stagnant reality he’s forced to live, it was done really really well. i also have never seen so many poetry, literature, film references in one movie all at once so that was nice. really sad and slightly pathetic though to see that his own re-invention of self still comes across as deeply insecure and unlikeable even if it at times he is sensitive and caring and smart.

very lighthearted and sweet at times! felt like a subdued more humorous version of interstellar to me: i.e. man must save humanity bc earth will slowly become inhospitable. whilst it isnt the best space movie ive seen, it was still really enjoyable. and rocky was adorable!
