Parasite
It is completely absurd how well thought and executed "Parasite" is.
An experience in its metaphors, in the scriptwriting itself (even though I don't understand Korean) and in the use of metaphors and framing.
To begin with, I would like to say that narratively speaking, it all starts building up as the family slowly becomes that Parasite in the house that you cannot get detached to. A place where everything crawls in to try and live through, no matter how miserable it might look to others.
When relating to "Parasite's" metaphors, the fact that they are the parasites, that then, after being into a "host" for so long they feel empowered when talking to the people living below, that later on in the film Kim becomes one again after being imprisoned downstairs. It all conveys on that thought. I also liked the meaning of the rock that Min gives out at the beginning, when placed at home, the rock provides wellbeing for the family and a fair amount of work for everyone but after the rock is taken out everything crumbles, the stability of the house itself shakes and cannot resist any more which is why it ends up immersed in water.
Shot wise and colour wise this film provides a good usage of gimbals and wide frames but not too wide to distract the viewer. I liked how some frames are used in the sense that they support the expressiveness of the viewer, such as the scene where the daughter and Kim look at each other and instead of occupying 2/3 of the space it's just half-and-half, which makes it very unstable and interesting to look at. The colours are amazing, the green highlights work pretty well and all in all they were very satisfying.
Last but not least, sound. The sound always helped, it supported the immersion and integration of the film itself, it contributed with the soundtrack and never felt off.+
In the light of the above, "Parasite" fulfills a fantastic film with all its letters to provide a good plot, with a good cast, an innovative set and idea, that is supported scriptwise and in framing and sound.
