Perfect Blue
Mesmerizing, touching an incredible amount of topics that need addressing.
The way society criticizes women thriving in Japan's entertainment system, the way age oppresses our fame and thoughtfulness.
We as humans are trapped in our worlds so much that we forget to look forward, we are trapped in the reality that is shown to us through technology, more so than everything else that surrounds us right in front of us. At the same time we are fumbled by the fact of what represents us and whats the concept of time and routine.
In Perfect Blue the fishes are the representation of time, while the mirrors are the conveyance of the supposed "reality" that isn't present. Our protagonist is trapped in that reality, in that concept which isn't real but yet it is. She sees in her past self the truthfulness she can't accept going over. We end the movie thinking it could have been Rumi all along, but it was always she against herself.
