Secrets & Lies
Secrets and lies! We're all in pain! Why can't we share our pain? I've spent my entire life trying to make people happy, and the three people I love the most in the world hate each other's guts, and I'm in the middle! I can't take it anymore!
Secrets & Lies tells us a story that sounds, resembles and looks like any other story we heard in the street, from a parent of us and gets to a level of relatability that puts us as another bystander.
A spectacular example of how good a script and acting can get to be that the still shots felt as dynamic as any other action film. Outstanding in its intranquility, anxiety and tension as to when was everything going to come out.
Secrets & Lies doesnt only put the emphasis what the title refers to. It talks through metaphors about the myth and study of what you get genetically from what you get from whoever brought you up.
A black woman, came out with outstanding manners and attitude, worked hard and achieved her dreams without being raised by her blood mother. On the other hand, the white girl who was raised by her own mother came out a mess. Troubled by life, her fathers absence and the lack of purpose.
Everything is beautifully placed in. We, as spectators are placed carefully as a bystander, someone else joining along in this birthday celebration, eating steak alltogether. The professions arent chosen at random either:
Maurice, a photographer, seeking for smiles and truths in other peoples gazes. Making them look true enough, cause what is truth really? Is it even worth it? In a way, Maurice in a way doesnt see nor understand truly the emotion with his sister, his niece but that isnt his problem but more like the whole familys problem.
Hortense, an optometrist, not only capable and knowledgable of "vision" or "sight" and how to fix it but also the one person who knows the how tofor a relationship to come out right. The one whos here to fix everyones sight, to recover balance and come out right. With the truth.
